Pride Logo - Strip

June 7th – June 19th 2021

Dear colleagues,

Welcome back to the NNUH Education Bulletin. The aim is to raise awareness of lectures, tutorials, courses and other CPD activities to help with training and appraisals, as well as to stimulate interest. If you would like to advertise any sessions via the bulletin, please email me and I’ll happily include them. Furthermore, if you would like to get involved with compiling the bulletin, teaching or organising events, please get in touch by emailing me at jonathan.miller@nnuh.nhs.uk

If you would like to organise a teaching session open to colleagues across different departments, you can use the ‘NNUH Education’ Team on Microsoft Teams. I have tried to add all doctors in the Trust to widen access to educational opportunities. As ever, if there is anything here that might interest any other colleagues, please feel free to forward the email on. There is an archive of old bulletins on the NANIME website.

NNUH Institute for Medical Education – Clinical Psychology Support Working Group
Norfolk & Norwich Institute for Medical Education is currently looking at setting up regular supportive sessions/options with the NNUH Clinical Psychologist Team for Medical Trainees.  They are seeking medical trainees to join a working group to help bring these sessions into being. The working group is expected to undertake one or two Teams sessions with the Clinical Psychologists and would be your opportunity to shape this way this programme is developed for the future. If you feel that you could be a part of the working group, please get in touch with sophie.hudson@nnuh.nhs.uk

Mr Ram’s International Paediatric Surgery Teaching has changed time!
It now runs every Saturday morning from 10:30-11:30. If you want to join, contact ashok.ram@nnuh.nhs.uk.

Royal College of Physicians are running a ‘Call the Medical Registrar’ conference aimed at IMTs on Thursday 8th July 2021
It costs £45 for non-members; for members it is free. You can find out more information here. Here’s what they have to say:

This conference aims to prepare trainees for the transition into the medical registrar role. Topics include how to manage the acute medical take safely, when to call the consultant and the importance of registrar wellbeing, as well as focusing on speciality top-tips in the acute setting.

I’m looking for medical specialty registrars to join me in hosting MRCP Club, a weekly near-peer led MRCP study group for IMTs and foundation doctors. If you’re interested, please get in touch. Thanks to those who have reached out already.

Where can I find learning opportunities?

Microsoft Stream is a locally-hosted video site containing a library of recorded local education sessions. This includes grand rounds and various COVID-19 educational sessions, covering content on medicine, management and leadership. You can find all the Medical Division Covid-19 Teaching sessions there, in the NNUH Education Group.

Also be sure to look at the NANIME website, https://nanime.nnuh.nhs.uk/, where you can find key contacts for education and training in the NNUH, as well as information on professional support and wellbeing.
